Performance Training Programs

  • Acceleration Training

    Acceleration TrainingAt Madonna ProActive Sports Performance we improve your running mechanics. We improve your stride length and frequency, knee drive, hip positioning and your arm swing.

    Acceleration Training will make you fluid and efficient, far more powerful, and better conditioned than your opponents. 

    Madonna ProActive Sports Performance training programs are designed to be completed in 4-8 week training blocks ranging from 1-3 sessions per week depending on age, goals, and training season.

  • Bridge Training

    Madonna ProActive Sports Performance Bridge Training programs fill the gap between physical therapy discharge and functional/recreational independence. These programs can benefit athletes of all ages and abilities by combining the latest in rehabilitation with our patented and proprietary technology.  Each session is personalized to our client’s abilities providing a step-by-step program with each stage becoming progressively more challenging.

    Athletes who are recovering from ACL repair or other lower body injuries like a broken bone, meniscus repair, MCL repair or ankle injury can return to competition with training like plyometric progressions, which help regain essential single and double leg absorption as well as balance, proprioception, and contractile speed.  Backpedaling protocols facilitate functional single leg weight bearing to strengthen all lower body musculature while in motion. Other training effects include increases in overall body awareness, increased running efficiency, and a decrease in recovery time from explosive activity.

    With the aid of Madonna ProActive Therapy Plus we can take individuals through the full spectrum of rehab to return to sport, confidently knowing that joint speeds and joint forces are equal to, if not greater than ones faced in competition. 

  • Hamstring Reconditioning

    The Hamstring Reconditioning program was designed to train the hamstrings in order to mimic its role in sprinting.  Beginning with retrograde running (backpedaling) at slight inclines we can successfully build strength and muscle function while keeping the athlete safe and pain-free. 

    Once the athlete is ready we train them to establish proper running form by progressing from backpedaling to jogging, running, and eventually sprinting.  With the use of the Super Treadmill and our Sprint Cords we can successfully train the hamstrings, core, and lower body musculature to help the athlete return to full speed. 

    Once in the sprinting phase the Super Treadmill becomes an unbeatable tool by facilitating over-speed training safely while loading the hamstrings greater than the athlete could on their own running over ground. 

    This advantage sets us apart from any other rehab program and instills confidence in the athlete that his/her injury is healed and they are truly ready for return to sport.

  • Team Training

    At Madonna ProActive Sports Performance, our test-teach-train approach is founded on offering individualized team training programs specifically tailored around the time of year (off-season, pre-season and in-season).

    Our staff will develop a training plan combining your coaching staff's assessment of your team's immediate needs, coupled with our proven, sport-specific protocols so that your team's athletes can focus on the specific elements of their game to improve their playmaking skills.

    Our certified Personal Trainers are passionate about health, wellness and exercise and will use their knowledge and skills to help motivate you in reaching your fitness and weight loss goals.

    Our trainers work with individuals from many different levels and abilities, from athletes, to general fitness, rehab individuals and the elderly…we have a trainer that fits your needs!  

    Individualized sessions focus on injury prevention exercises, strength & power, weight loss, or for the beginner wanting to learn how to lift in a safe and controlled environment.

In our optimal training environment – a combination of our proprietary equipment coupled with properly placed mirrors and feedback from our qualified trainers – athletes find they quickly progress beyond all their preconceived notions and limitations.

With the added integration of our cord technology athletes see, hear, feel and track their progress. Madonna ProActive Sports Performance is like no other training center.


    The Plyo Press Machine (PPM) improves leg strength and explosive power.  Its unique design allows athletes to take explosive power training to a higher level. 

    The footplate angle puts the athlete in an athletic position to produce force through the balls of his/her feet. You compete in an athletic position and need to train in those positions.  The sled supports the low back and reinforces proper mechanics when lifting heavy weights or doing explosive jumps.  Using an exclusive weight loading pattern, the PPM provides variable resistance that optimizes the weight load based on how the body works. 

    Compared to squats and hip sleds which focus on raw strength and hypertrophy (increase in muscle size), the PPM is a safer and more effective way to train lower body explosiveness and power.

  • Super Running Treadmill

    If you want to get faster and more explosive on the field or court, you have to teach your body to move faster than it knows how.  The Super Running Treadmill (RTM) ramps up from 0-28 mph in less than 3 seconds.  Standard treadmills cannot produce the speed or stability the RTM provides.  Using our sport-specific protocols, the RTM safely pushes athletes beyond their ground-based training limits by forcing them to work harder and run more efficiently to reach peak speeds and maintain them for longer durations.  

    With inclines up to 40% grade, incline running on the RTM forces athletes to run with the same form of an Olympic Sprinter - high knee-drive, quick recovery, a stable mid-section and toes-up ground contact to minimize braking and maximize propulsion.  This finely tuned training instrument is like nothing you have experienced before and delivers game changing explosive speed to athletes who use it.


    The Plyo Floor consists of exclusive patterns laid out on a gym court surface and quick lock resistance cord hooks to maximize quickness and explosiveness while improving dynamic stability, essential for improving movement skills and overall athleticism. 

    Coupled with resistance cords, this floor can dramatically improve explosive power, hip strength, balance and dynamic stability.


    The Pro Multi-Hip (PMH) improves key abdominal and hip muscle strength essential for improved performance. 

    Resistance settings can be adjusted from less than 15 pounds for lateral movement patterns to 375 pounds for dynamic power movements. 

    The PMH is versatile enough to accommodate athletes from 5 feet to 7 feet tall, healthy or recovering from injury.

    Lance Milner, CSCS

    Sports Performance

    Lance Milner, CSCS is the Sports Performance Supervisor at Madonna ProActive Sports Performance. A former three sport athlete from Chase County High School, he completed his undergraduate studies with Bachelor of Science degrees in Exercise Science and Health & Fitness Studies from Nebraska Wesleyan University where he was a two year starter at defensive back. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also a Level 3 Performance Sports Trainer through the Athletic Republic. Lance has been a part of the Madonna ProActive Sports Performance team since the summer of 2010, working with hundreds of athletes already, ranging from youth athletes working to correct running form, to college and professional athletes trying to maximize their athletic potential.

    Tim Soenksen

    Sports Performance Trainer

    Tim Soenksen, CSCS is a full-time Sports Enhancement Specialist at Madonna ProActive Sports Performance. Tim is an avid soccer player and coach; he was a four year starter at Lincoln Lutheran High School with numerous All-City and All-State honors.  Was a two time All Region selection at Iowa Western Community College and finished his soccer career at Concordia University. He graduated from Concordia University Seward with a Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science. He also has his Goalkeeper Level 1 Certificate from the NSCAA and his D License from the USSF and a Level 2 Performance Sports Trainer through the Athletic Republic. Tim has been a part of the Madonna ProActive Sports Performance team since August 2013.

Madonna ProActive Sports Performance (formerly Nebraska Sports Acceleration) is a licensed training center of the Athletic Republic that has been training athletes in the greater Lincoln area for the past 20 years.

Madonna ProActive Sports Performance is not a place to simply work out; it is a place to become a better athlete. Madonna ProActive Sports Performance is the premier destination for intense, individualized, sport-specific training. 

The foundation of our success comes through our test-teach-train approach to athlete development. We provide athletes with the answers to becoming a faster, quicker and more intelligent competitor. We test athletes to determine a performance baseline and identify areas where they can create separation from their peers. We teach athletes the same methods used by many of today’s top professional and Olympic athletes to improve sport and position specific movement skills. What does this mean? We teach athletes what they need to do to get better. How to move better - the foundation of improving athleticism. How to train smarter - learning to listen to their body, push limits safely and to incorporate sound nutrition to fuel performance and recovery. Essentially, we help athletes improve their training IQ. Then we train using scientifically-proven programs featuring our patented technology and individualized training protocols administered by our certified trainers to give every athlete the ultimate performance sports training experience.

We train athletes to improve their movement skills, specifically speed, power and agility, through training programs we’ve developed based on years of research into how the body responds to particular stresses. Workouts are closely monitored and delivered in small groups with a 1:5 trainer-to-athlete ratio.

Humans learn and perfect skills over time. Generally, it takes about 4 weeks to learn the skill (or develop the neuromuscular coordination patterns) and at 6 weeks the skill becomes a permanent motor program (engram) that allows it to be executed as effectively as possible.

Our training programs have worked for over 1 million athletes, from the peewees to the pros, novice to varsity. The Athletic Republic training programs have documented average performance improvements of 0.25 seconds in 40 yard-dash time; 2.5” of vertical jump height; 50% improvement in rate of recovery; 20% gain in leg strength; and 33% advancement in foot speed. 

Developing scientifically valid training protocols and patented, proprietary equipment requires years of work and significant investment—you get what you pay for. Our hourly rate compares well to other services like personal training or private lessons. We stress results and provide our athletes with the technology, training and expertise that have only been available for professional and Olympic athletes in the past. Yes. Our programs focus on building speed, strength, quickness, jumping ability and overall conditioning. Camps provide athletes with specific skills related to a particular sport. Our programs will make you a better athlete and get you ready for your sport-specific camp. If an athlete is expected to complete an off-season training program our certified trainers can adapt our programs to prevent overtraining and maximize movement abilities while still completing their other training obligations.

Our programs are designed to be completed in the offseason prior to the athlete’s sport season. If an athlete has more than two weeks before the end of their program and their sport season we encourage them to either continue on to another level of training or complete a once weekly maintenance program to ensure that they maintain their level of performance and conditioning. As long as the athlete remains physically active at a competitive level there will be no decrease in athletic performance.
